Finasteride for hair loss in Spain
Finasteride 1 mg may be considered for suitable adult men with male-pattern hair loss. A first consultation confirms the likely diagnosis, checks safety and agrees how progress will be measured. Prescribing is never automatic.
Book a doctor consultation first
The doctor reviews the pattern and duration of hair loss, scalp photographs, previous treatment, medicines, medical history and whether examination or blood tests are needed. Finasteride is not the correct route for every type of hair loss.
If suitable, the consultation covers expected timescales, possible adverse effects, pregnancy-handling precautions and when follow-up should occur.
Use the repeat route only when stable
If you already take the same finasteride dose without new problems, a repeat review may be suitable when you provide named evidence—such as a previous prescription, recent medical report or labelled packaging showing your details and dose.
New symptoms, adverse effects, a dose change or missing evidence require a doctor consultation instead.
Progress is measured over months
Finasteride does not work immediately. A meaningful comparison commonly needs three to six months using consistent photographs. Continued treatment is generally needed to maintain benefit, and response varies between individuals.

Common questions
Can finasteride regrow all lost hair?
No. It may slow progression and improve density while follicles remain active, but it cannot guarantee regrowth or restore long-standing complete baldness.

No. The clinician prescribes only when finasteride is appropriate, safe and permitted.
Will every prescription need a €39 consultation?
Not necessarily. Stable, unchanged and well-tolerated treatment may move to the focused €25 repeat-prescription route, subject to medical review and suitable evidence.
Can the dose be changed through the repeat service?
