Eligibility

BMI, medical history and safety

Wegovy is used alongside diet and physical activity for eligible weight management. The doctor reviews BMI, weight-related conditions, medicines, previous treatment and contraindications before prescribing.

Dose escalation

Start low and review before increasing

Wegovy dose escalation from 0.25 mg to 2.4 mg, increasing from left to right

The usual escalation uses 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, 1 mg, 1.7 mg and 2.4 mg once weekly. Timing and maintenance depend on tolerance and the prescriber’s plan.

Always follow the dose on your prescription and the current official patient leaflet.

Monitoring and safety

Side effects are reviewed—not ignored

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation and abdominal symptoms are among the effects commonly discussed. Report side effects before dose increases.

  • Review hydration, food intake and other medicines
  • Severe persistent abdominal pain needs prompt advice
  • Pregnancy planning requires specific medical guidance

Wegovy support throughout Spain
Can I get Wegovy without visiting a clinic?

Assessment can normally be completed remotely, but prescription depends on suitability.

How quickly is the dose increased?

The authorised escalation is gradual and may be delayed for tolerability.

What if the pharmacy has no stock?

Stock varies and should be checked locally.

Can I change provider?

Yes; provide current dose, prescription history and side effects.

What happens once stable?

The doctor can discuss monitoring and prescription interval.

Is Wegovy the same as Ozempic?

Both contain semaglutide, but their authorised indications differ.

What if I miss more than one dose?

Contact the doctor; restarting at a lower dose may need consideration.

Can I drink alcohol?

Discuss alcohol use, hydration and any digestive symptoms with the doctor.

How much does the Wegovy consultation cost?

The online medical consultation is €39. The medicine is purchased separately from the pharmacy.

Can I use the prescription at any pharmacy in Spain?

A REMPe QR prescription can be presented at participating pharmacies in Spain. Stock and dispensing remain with the pharmacy.

How long might Wegovy treatment continue?

Treatment duration is individual and should be reviewed with the doctor according to benefit, tolerability, safety and your wider health plan.

What should I do if side effects become difficult?

Contact the medical team before increasing the dose. The doctor may recommend symptom management, a delayed increase or another clinical route.

Can Wegovy be used during pregnancy?

Wegovy is not used during pregnancy. Tell the doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Do I need blood tests before starting?

Not everyone needs the same tests. The doctor decides whether blood tests or an in-person assessment are appropriate from your history and risk factors.
