Using a private e-prescription in Spain

REMPe prescriptions, pharmacies and GLP-1 availability

When a doctor approves treatment, the REMPe prescription is sent by email with a QR code. Show the code at a licensed pharmacy, where it is validated and scanned for dispensing. The pharmacy controls dispensing and stock; the clinic cannot guarantee availability.

01

Receive the QR prescription

Book the correct medical service and complete the assessment. If treatment is approved, the prescription is sent to your email. Keep the complete message and make sure the QR code remains clear and readable.

02

Show it at a licensed pharmacy

Open the emailed prescription on your phone or print it. The pharmacist validates and scans the code, confirms the prescribed item and may request identification before dispensing.

03

Dispensing and stock

REMPe states that its prescriptions can be dispensed in pharmacies throughout Spain. The exact prescribed presentation must still be available, and the pharmacy controls stock and the final dispensing process.

Urgent safety information

When to seek immediate medical help

Call 112 immediately for breathing difficulty, rapid swelling of the face or throat, a sudden voice change, widespread hives or itching, marked light-headedness, collapse or another possible severe allergic reaction.

Seek urgent medical assessment for severe and persistent abdominal pain—especially if it moves to the back—or repeated vomiting, inability to keep fluids down or signs of dehydration.

Common questions

REMPe prescriptions, pharmacies and GLP-1 availability: questions

Can I show the QR code on my phone?

Yes. Keep the complete email and QR code available; the pharmacy may also request identification.

Can I use the prescription throughout Spain?

REMPe states that its prescriptions can be dispensed in pharmacies throughout Spain. Validation, the prescribed quantity, the pharmacy’s dispensing decision and stock still apply.

What if I lose the email?

Contact the clinic securely so the prescription details can be checked. Do not edit, recreate or use another person’s QR code.

Can the clinic reserve stock?

No. Pharmacies control their own stock and dispensing. Contact pharmacies directly about availability.

Can I use the same QR code more than once?

A QR code can only authorise the quantity and schedule prescribed. Each dispensing is recorded by the pharmacy, and it cannot be used to obtain more medicine than authorised.

Can I collect several months before travelling?

Only when clinically appropriate and within the quantity and timing authorised on the prescription. Discuss travel plans with the prescriber in advance and confirm stock with the pharmacy.

Can I edit the QR if another strength is in stock?

No. Contact the prescriber. Do not combine strengths, split doses, alter the QR code or switch products without medical review.

What should I take to the pharmacy?

Take the complete prescription email or app record, the readable QR code and identification. The pharmacy may ask for further information before dispensing.
